  1. HI, FINANCE! version 2.17 <ASP>

  3. Hi, Finance! is a powerful Windows tool for planning personal or 
  4. business finances.  This version fixes bugs in 2.00-2.16.
  5. HIFINANC.WRI is the full User's Guide.  Please examine that 
  6. before calling technical support!  The file you are now reading 
  7. (HIFINANC.TXT) provides a quick overview as well as installation 
  8. directions, notices regarding legal use, and vendor information.
  9.  
  10. REQUIREMENTS:
  11. Microsoft Windows 3.0 or above.  You will get better performance 
  12. using Windows 3.1 and a 25 MHz 80386 processor or above with at 
  13. least 4MB of RAM.  A mouse is highly recommended. You'll need at 
  14. least 1MB of free hard disk space. Program features are 
  15. accessible through iconic and drop-down menus and bar buttons.

  56. In addition to written documentation (printed copy provided to 
  57. registered users), there is online context-sensitive help 
  58. (Press F1/Help).  Note: in this version, yearly amortization 
  59. summaries are prepared only if payment periods are monthly. A 
  60. fix is planned.

  62. INSTALLATION
  63. I.  If you downloaded Hi, Finance! in compressed form:
  64.  
  65.     1.  Copy the files ("HIFI2A.XXX" and "HIFI2B.XXX" or 
  66.     ("HIFI217A.XXX" and "HIFI217B.XXX" --"XXX" may 
  67.     represent EXE, ZIP, or other extensions) into a 
  68.     temporary directory.
  69.  
  70.     2.  If the files have an ".EXE" file extension, they should
  71.     be self-extracting: type the file name to decompress.  
  72.  
  73.     File sets with "ZIP" extensions require the use of 
  74.     PKUNZIP or compatible decompression utilities.  These 
  75.     should be available on the BBS where you downloaded 
  76.     Hi, Finance!  Make sure you unzip all the files to the 
  77.     same temporary directory (which can be deleted after 
  78.     installation is complete.)

  80.     3.  Run Windows.  There are several ways to start Setup. From 
  81.     Program Manager, select "File" and then "Run".  This 
  82.     should pop up a dialog box.  In the entry box, type 
  83.     "<dir>:setup.exe", where <dir> is the directory where the 
  84.     Hi, Finance! files are located.  
  85.  
  86.         For example:    c:\temp\setup.exe
  87.  
  88.     From the File Manager, you may use an similar process, 
  89.     although you may skip the path information ("c:\temp\") 
  90.     if you're already in that directory.  The easiest way is 
  91.     to use "File" "Open" on the setup.exe file using the 
  92.     graphical directory management of File Manager, or simply 
  93.     double-click on "setup.exe".
  94.  
  95.     4.  The installation program will propose C:\HIFINANC as the 
  96.     default directory.  You may change the drive and 
  97.     directory.  Setup will also create a subdirectory off 
  98.     the main Windows directory in which it will place 
  99.     runtime files.  This location should not be changed!  
  100.     Follow screen prompts.

  102.     5.  The program will create a Program Manager group and place 
  103.     icons for Hi, Finance! and related files in it.  
  104.  
  105.     6.  You may now start Hi, Finance! by double-clicking on its 
  106.     icon or by selecting HIFINANC.EXE in File Manager.

  109. II.  If you received Hi, Finance! on 360K diskettes (2) or a 
  110. 1.2MB or 720KB diskette:
  111.  
  112.     1.  Place Diskette 1 in the appropriate floppy drive.    
  113.  
  114.     2.  Proceed with installation as outlined in steps 3-6 in 
  115.     part I, changing diskettes if prompted.

  118. III.  Manual installation:
  119.  
  120.     1.  The following files are distributed by Brightridge 
  121.     Solutions, Inc. in compressed form:  "HIFINANC.EXE", 
  122.     "HIFINANC.HLP", "HIFINANC.WRI", "RLZRUN10.RTS", 
  123.     "CCLIB1.EXE", and "STANDARD.EXE".  If you need to extract 
  124.     these files outside of the supplied setup utility, use 
  125.     the "EXPAND.EXE" program supplied with Microsoft Windows 
  126.     3.0 and 3.1, using this syntax:

  128.          EXPAND source destination
  129.  
  130.     2.  The application's executable file, HIFINANC.EXE, may be 
  131.     installed anywhere accessible to Windows.  Install 
  132.     FINDLL.DLL in the same directory.
  133.  
  134.     3.  The runtime files, RLZRUN10.RTS, STANDARD.EXE, CCLIB1.EXE,
  135.     and SHADE3D.EXE should be in the \RLZRUN10 subdirectory 
  136.     off the main Windows subdirectory.  
  137.  
  138.     4.  To use online help, HIFINANC.HLP should be copied to the 
  139.     same directory as HIFINANC.EXE or the Windows directory.
  140.  
  141.     5.  Other files included in the package are not (absolutely) 
  142.     necessary to the operation of Hi, Finance!:

  144.     a.  HIFINANC.TXT -- This file.  Keep it!
  145.  
  146.         b.  HIFINANC.WRI -- Hi, Finance! User's Guide, in 
  147.         Windows Write (.WRI) format.  If you're a registered 
  148.         user, you have this in printed form.
  149.  
  150.     c.  Sample files (EXAMPLE1.*).
  151.  
  152.     d.  SHAREWRE.TXT -- explains the shareware concept.
  153.  
  154.     e.  VENDOR.DOC -- Addressed to disk vendors, BBS 
  155.         Sysops, and distributors.  Explains distribution 
  156.         policies permitted under license.

  158.         f.  REGISTER.TXT -- Registration form.  You may print 
  159.         this ASCII file, fill it out, and send it with 
  160.         your registration fee, or you may wish to use the 
  161.         form included in the program.

  165. Hi, Finance! is shareware.  It is copyrighted software that may 
  166. be used only in compliance with the license.  You are permitted 
  167. to "try before you buy" and make copies for others FOR EVALUATION 
  168. PURPOSES ONLY.  If you continue to use the program, you must 
  169. register (pay for) it.  The author is a member of the Association
  170. of Shareware Professionals (ASP).  A further explanation of 
  171. shareware and the ASP is provided in the SHAREWRE.TXT file.
